Commencement Date

18th July 2022

Completion on Time

Agreed Extension of Time of 2 weeks, due to unforeseen structural and fire stopping issues

Brief Description of works

Stripping out to bare of an existing dated home economics room and refurbished into a modern hygienic work area. We installed nine work islands incorporating all kitchen units, 12 gas/elecric ovens, hobs and OH extractors. The internal walls were fully clad with 2mm white PVC Saniclad with all associated M&E extract data and access control

Programme

6 weeks

Point of Interest / Innovation

The majority of the works took place during the summer holidays. During the strip out we encountered significant issues with the roof structural support arrangement. We worked closely with KMBC to re-design the structural members during the construction stage. Whilst this delayed the programme slightly it had no overall impact on the operation of the School

Testimonial

“On behalf of the school community I would like to thank yourself and your amazing team of workers for the fantastic refurbishment of our Food Technology Base.

Another excellent project by Sterling Services!!!

Work as usual was done to schedule and finished to an excellent  standard.  The contractors on site were amazing nothing was too much trouble for them, they reacted well to change of plans and worked hard to ensure that the work was completed on schedule.

We showcased the Food Tech room on Wednesday with the grand opening where Lizzie Acker (Great British Bake Off winner) was present and duly impressed.

Our pupils are excited to work in this beautiful/efficient space this will give them the opportunity to refine their key life skills within KS3 and beyond!

We look forward to working with you again on future projects.”
